St. John’s Preschool was established in downtown Kirkland in 1974 and has been in operation ever since. Our main goal is to make preschool a “fun” experience for children so that when they are older, they will remember school as a fun and positive place to be. Your child will learn many things while they are with us, although we don’t consider ourselves an "academic" preschool. When asked to describe our school we often say, “We don’t take ourselves too seriously”. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere where we feel we take care of the whole family, parents and siblings as well as the students. St. John’s is part of St. John's Episcopal Church and is a Christian preschool. We accept children of all faith backgrounds to our school.
Registration for the 2010-11 school year is complete. Please call the preschool for availability 425-822-5079. Click registration tab above to get more information.

It seems like just yesterday that we were welcoming your child to school on their first day of class. We need to say good bye to some of you hoping that you know you are always welcome to come back and visit us. To the rest of you it’s have a good summer and we’ll see you in the fall. I want to thank all of you once again for all the time, effort and ideas you have brought to the program. Most especially, I want to thank you for the gift of your child. Thank you for letting us be a part of their lives. This is a busy month for ALL of us. Please look at your classroom calendar and news. We have made some schedule changes to accommodate Mother’s Day Teas. Keep your calendar handy so you can navigate our very busy month of May! MOTHER’S DAY TEAS: Our regular classes will have Mother’s Day Teas the first full week of May while our Science classes do not have teas. Please look at your calendar to see what day and time your child’s class will have their special day. It would be wonderful to see all of you. If you are unable to attend perhaps Grandma, Aunt or special friend could come to be with your child. We encourage you to make this a special time for you and your preschooler, so it would be great if you could find a sitter for younger children. If this isn’t possible by all means bring them with you – this is an event we don’t want you to miss. LAST DAY OF SCHOOL CELEBRATIONS: Your child’s last day of school and year end celebration are listed on their calendar. We will have a regular class day with a celebration the last 30 minutes of class. We finish school the week before Memorial Day. The last days of class will be Tuesday the 25st and Wednesday the 26th. This timing allows us to thoroughly clean the preschool and find time as a staff to wrap up this year and make some plans for next year. ALLELUIA PROGRAM: Our evening music program for those children in the Pre-3, 3’s and 3+ classes. The older classes had their program in January and now it’s time for the younger classes to have their program. The program will be on Thursday April 29th at 7:00 pm here in the church. Doors open at 6:30 – you may drop off your child to their teacher at 6:50. The program runs between 40 and 45 minutes. We will have refreshments in the Great Hall after the program. I will be sending home more information. CARNIVAL: Thanks to all who made the Carnival such a success! What a fun Saturday afternoon for all of us. Special thanks to Malissa Olson and Sou Vail who along with their core team put on an amazing event for all of us! Malissa and Sou are preparing a newsletter to go home soon. TUITION: This is the last month to pay tuition for this school year. Just a reminder that tuition is due by the 10th of the month. I appreciate your diligence in paying tuition. You’ve been terrific in paying it in a timely manner! SUMMER PROGRAM: Thank you for your response so far. We do still have room in both weeks of the program. I will compile classes and let you know if you have a balance due. I will send out class information the second week of May. RETURNING FAMILIES: For those of you returning to St. John’s next year I will be sending out a mailing by mid May. This mailing will be ask for the first months’ tuition as well as supply and field trip fees for the 2010-11 school year. These fees will be due by June 1st. If you have any questions please let me know. PLAYGROUND: As the weather gets nicer please feel free to use our playground. You are doing a wonderful job of keeping it clean. Some reminders: continue to clean up before you leave, please close the gate when leaving, do not have your child(ren) swing on the gate and please keep your child(ren) inside the playground with you supervising. Thanks! *For those of you in am school, you are welcome to use the playground after class until the next session starts at 12:30. LOST AND FOUND: We have LOTS of items in both the upstairs and downstairs Lost and Found. Please check it out! Thank you once again for all your support and help during this year. We had a wonderful year! You will receive one more short parent letter as there is always some business to finish up before the end of the year. Joan Sullivan, Dir
