We hope you find the new website valuable! Please provide us with your feedback and ideas for enhancements. CURRENT NEWS April 29, 2008 VALUE: GENTLENESS: “So then, you must put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12 Dear Parents, It’s hard to believe that I am writing the last parent letter of this school year. It seems like just yesterday that we were welcoming your child to school on their first day of class. We need to say good bye to some of you hoping that you know you are always welcome to come back and visit us. To the rest of you it’s have a good summer and we’ll see you in the fall. I want to thank all of you once again for all the time, effort and ideas you have brought to the program. Most especially, I want to thank you for the gift of your child. Thank you for letting us be a part of their lives. This is a busy month for ALL of us. Please look at the attached calendar, classroom news and field trip forms. We have made some schedule changes to accommodate Mother’s Day Teas. Keep both your calendar and the activity sheet handy so you can navigate our very busy month of May! MOTHER’S DAY TEAS: Our regular classes will have Mother’s Day Teas the 2nd week of May while our Science classes do not have teas. Please look at your calendar to see what day and time your child’s class will have their special day. It would be wonderful to see all of you. If you are unable to attend perhaps Grandma, Aunt or special friend could come to be with your child. We encourage you to make this a special time for you and your preschooler, so it would be great if you could find a sitter for younger children. If this isn’t possible by all means bring them with you – this is an event we don’t want you to miss. LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AND PICNICS: Your child’s last day of school and year-end picnic are listed on their calendar. We finish school the week after Memorial Day and our picnics will be held the 29th and 30th. The picnics will be Thursday am at 10:00 and Thursday pm at 12:30. Our Friday picnic will be at 10:00 am. We are hoping once again to have our picnics at Crestwoods Park in Kirkland. Once that is confirmed I will send home directions. Families are asked to pack food if you’d like to eat lunch at the park. Blankets would be a good idea and because this is a school sponsored event no pets please. Science students will not have a picnic, but say good bye their last day of class. Please check your calendar for these dates. SUMMER PROGRAM: The response has been good. Please check to see if there is still availability. I will compile classes and let you know if you have a balance due. The information will be going home soon. COMMUNITY NEEDS: We have a need in our community. If you have a crib (we need two) or other baby items, (high chair, car seat, stroller, changing table, swing, backpack etc) that you could donate please let Annette or me know. We will pass these items along to a family that has a need. Thanks so much!!! SPEECH AND LANGUAGE NEEDS: Kris LaFramboise, a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, whom I use for consultation here at school, is setting her summer schedule. If you feel your child could use Kris’s services this summer please contact her at: 206.817.3715 or at raspberries5@yahoo.com PLAYGROUND: As the weather gets nicer please feel free to use our playground. You are doing a wonderful job of keeping it clean. Some reminders: continue to clean up before you leave, please close the gate when leaving, do not have your child(ren) swing on the gate and please keep your child(ren) inside the playground with you supervising. Typically you have until 3:30 after school to use the grounds. Sometimes we are longer, but sometimes after school activities with our own children cause us to leave by 3:30. Thanks! *For those of you in am school, you are welcome to use the playground after class until the next session starts at 12:30. LOST AND FOUND: We have LOTS of items in both the upstairs and downstairs Lost and Found. Please check it out! Thank you once again for all your support and help during this year. We had a wonderful year! You will receive one more short parent letter as there is always some business to finish up before the end of the year. Joan Sullivan, Director
