St. John’s Preschool was established in downtown Kirkland in 1974 and has been in operation ever since. Our main goal is to make preschool a “fun” experience for children so that when they are older, they will remember school as a fun and positive place to be. Your child will learn many things while they are with us, although we don’t consider ourselves an "academic" preschool. When asked to describe our school we often say, “We don’t take ourselves too seriously”. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere where we feel we take care of the whole family, parents and siblings as well as the students. St. John’s is part of St. John's Episcopal Church and is a Christian preschool. We accept children of all faith backgrounds to our school.

February 22, 2010 Dear Parents, PREVIEW OUR AUCTION ITEMS ONLINE!!!! CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE. March is just around the corner and with it comes thoughts of spring, although I think we’ve had a bit of spring already! I hope you all had a restful break. Our Lenten season began last week with Ash Wednesday. Lent gives us a wonderful opportunity to work on those things we would like to see different about ourselves and to focus on just what God is asking of us. We will look forward to Easter in April – a time of renewal and rebirth. AUCTION NEWS: As we have announced we have split our Silent Auction and Carnival this year. Our Silent Auction is coming up Saturday March 6 beginning at 6:30 here at St. John’s. Scotti Records and Jennifer Rex have done a wonderful job of gathering items and have planned a great party for you to attend! You should have received an evite to the event. We encourage you to respond as we are assigning bid numbers this year. Our CARNIVAL will be on Saturday April 17th 1-4 pm here at St. John’s. Malissa Olson, Sou Vail and their committee have planned a wonderful afternoon of fun for you and your family. Why am I contributing to the raffle basket now if the Carnival isn’t until April? Great Question that has two answers! We wanted to have you (our parents) donate to our auction and donate towards your class raffle basket at the same time. That way we were only asking you to contribute once. The raffle baskets will be on display at the auction and you can purchase tickets that evening. Our major sales week will be the week before the Carnival in April and the baskets will be raffled off at the Carnival April 17th. WINE RAFFLE: At this time we have received 108 bottles of wine! The value is over $1500!!! You may still contribute to the wine raffle if you’d like. If it’s not posted already we hope to post soon a list of the wines we have already received. Tickets will go on sale the week of March 1st in the preschool office. Tickets are $1 a piece and you can buy as many as you’d like. The drawing will take place at the end of the Auction. (you need not be present to win) We will also be selling drink scrip for the night of the auction. Admission and appetizers are complimentary, however beverages will be for sale. Buying drink scrip early will lessen your wait in line the night of the auction. STUDENT PICTURES: Angie Johnson (Tanner T/Th Pre-3) has taken a picture of your child. They will be on display the night of the auction. You may purchase your child’s 8 x 10 black and white picture for $20. If you are not able to make it to the auction you may still purchase your child’s picture the following week in the office. If you do not want your child picture posted please let me know.
LOOK FOR YOUR CATALOG COMING HOME THE WEEK OF MARCH 1ST! PARENT ENRICHMENT: Please join us Friday March 12th at 9:30 am in the Great Hall for a parent presentation by Jody McVittie. Jody will be speaking on: “Play Relationships and the Developing Brain.” We invite you to join us for this presentation that is paid for by the monies raised from both our auction and Carnival. SPRING BREAK: Our Spring Break this year will be April 5-9. We are NOT following LakeWashington’s break. We know that families with Lake Washington have a different break. We know that some of you may be gone as will some of the teachers, we’ll just flexible these two weeks. SCHOLASTIC BOOKS: We will be sending home the last order of the year the week of March 9th (after the Auction). These orders will be due on Wednesday the 14th of April. REGISTRATION: Our registration for the 2010-11 school year is complete. All of our classes (except Pre-K) are full. I have sent out registration confirmations via email. I don’t normally make up the class rosters until summer. I will consult with their current teachers as to class placement for next year. SUMMER PROGRAM: There is a possibility of a LIMITED summer program. It would only run 1 or 2 weeks in early June. More information will be coming in your April Parent Letter. Look for more Auction and Carnival information to come via email or info in your child’s cubbie! Once again thank you for all you do to make St. John’s what it is. Joan Sullivan, Dir.
