In the ClassroomLast few weeks – seems like it was just September! Mrs. F., Mrs. Farrell, and I have been privileged to have your children in our class. Thank you for sharing them with us. In May we have a variety of themes, two of which include wearing something specific or bringing something with you to school. Please check the calendar carefully. Mother’s Day Tea is scheduled for Friday May 10 beginning at 11am. The kids are always thrilled to have their Mom’s there on this special day, so please try to make it. Also, please try to find babysitting for the younger siblings, as it will allow you to enjoy the tea to the fullest. Lake Washington School District will be sending over a yellow school bus for us to take a ride. The kids always think this is very cool, especially the kids with older siblings who take the bus daily to school. We also cover basic school bus safety. We’ll end the month and the school year with a very small end-of-4’s-class celebration on Wednesday May 26 starting at 11:00 and you are invited to join us. Since that day is “Backwards Day” we will actually be having opening circle at that time so we can show off for you what we’ve learned this year. No need to bring anything except maybe your camera and your happy summer-time attitude! Everyone (siblings, other relatives & friends) is very welcome to join us. VIP Days: Hayley on May 14, Mary Madaline on May 17, Abbie on May 19 and Dante on May 21 Other Info
We go outside everyday and hopefully all of May will be sunny! In case it’s not, please remember to send in a jacket or sweater to keep the chill off. Circle Time Ideas for At Home
Read, read, and read. Practice writing names with upper and lower case letters. Cut things! It doesn’t matter if it’s on the lines you’re just after the practice. Have your child make a collage with the cut out items – be sure to have them put the glue on the item to be glued rather than the paper it goes on. Go outside and play! A fun (and easy) idea is a backyard scavenger hunt (and you get a few minutes to go to the bathroom by yourself! J) have you kid(s) looks for 6 rocks, 3 red leaves, two dandelions, 1 blade of grass, 2 baseballs – whatever you have in the yard that can be picked up and put into a bag or box. Have fun! |
