Mrs. Geraghty, Mrs. Heilstedt & Mrs. Fynaardt's Pre-K Class
This month we will be focusing on our value of the month, which is love. We are going to talk about how to love each other. We will also be learning about how to love our friends by listening to them.
Week 1: This week we are looking at the letter “Q” and quilts. We will be putting together our own paper Friendship Quilt. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be reading some classic fairy tales. Wednesday is Marit’s VIP Day and Thursday is Andrew’s VIP Day. On Thursday, we will learn about Groundhog’s Day - and how the groundhog plays a part in our abilities to “predict” when Spring will come. Look for some cute groundhogs in your preschool bags.
Week 2: No letter of the week – review of all letters learned. On Tuesday we will be getting ready for Valentine’s Day and learning how to cut out hearts and making beautiful things to bring home! Hannah’s VIP Day is on Tuesday.On Wednesday we will be learning about the fairy tale “The Frog Prince”. And on Thursday is our field trip to the Kirkland Performance Center to see the play “The Frog Prince”. We will be meeting at the library at 12:30 and then walking back to school after the play. Don’t forget to sign up for something to our party on Tuesday!
Week 3: On Monday, we will be getting ready for Valentine’s Day by seizing the occasion of “too much small candy” to practice our grouping and math skills. We will be counting up and taking away. We will also practice our writing skills by writing Valentine words on cards to our loved ones. We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day is on Tuesday. Each student may bring a valentine for his/her fellow students– they just LOVE getting valentines!!! Party will start at 2:30! Wednesday and Thursday we will be learning about Presidents – current and former.
Week 4: No School this week. MID-WINTER BREAK!
Week 5: This week is about the letter “R”. Please bring your letter R object on Monday. We will be learning about the Rainforest for the rest of the week. During rainforest week we will be learning fun facts about the animals of the rainforest and where they live. Our classroom magical turns into a rainforest! Ellie celebrates her VIP Day on Tuesday.
As always, if you have anything you think would be cool to share with the class during one of our units, please let us know because we would love to have visitors or experts on anything we do!
