February Calendar

In the Classroom

February happenings in our classroom -

We will start the month by celebrating Groundhog Day; will there be 6 more weeks of winter or an early spring?  Let’s hope it’s an early spring, I think we’ve all seen enough winter now.

We will start the next week with the letter Q and Queenie Quail.  We will make a paper quilt and explore what else starts with Q.  We will have fun with fairytales and maybe even act out our own fairytale.  We will get to see the play “The Frog Prince” at the end of the week at the Kirkland Performance Center.  We will meet at the Library at 12:30 on Thursday, February 9th .

The next week there is no letter of the week as Valentine’s is on its way.  On Tuesday the 14th we will have our Valentine’s Day party at 2:30.  The children are welcome to bring Valentines for all of their classmates.  We have 14 total students.  We will have “mail service” in the classroom.  The rest of the week we will talk about our pets and learn about Presidents Washington and Lincoln.

There is no school the 20th through the 24th.  Enjoy Mid-Winter break.

On the 27th we will continue our zoophonics with the letter R and Robby Rabbit.  The rest of the week we will head to the tropical rainforest.  We will learn about the different plants and animals that live in the rainforest.

Important Dates:

Monday the 6th – Letter Q
Thursday the 9th  – Meet at the Kirkland Library at 12:30 to go to the play
Tuesday the 14th – Valentine’s Day party in the classroom at 2:30
