Welcome to Mrs. McCary, Mrs. Kouldukis & Mrs. Read's Science Classroom

Current Classroom Calendar

February Calendar

In the Classroom

It’s hard to believe it’s already February.  This month we will be learning about the earth and why there are volcanoes. We will examine rocks and minerals and learn about sedimentary and igneous rocks.  We will finish up the month with some chemistry and do some acid-base testing, testing for starch and we will check out “orange” (both the color and the fruit).

  What's coming up
Next month we will be learning about the weather, the desert habitat and what kind of plants and animals flourish there.  We will also learn about oviparous animals (they come from eggs), and discuss the difference between mammals and other types of living creatures.  We even try to figure out how to classify marsupials.

Other important info
We don’t normally have a Valentine Party for AM Science because they have one for kindergarten so there is no need to send Valentine cards.  We may have a fun snack to celebrate the day-or close to the day.
