May Science AM
In the classroom
Wow! It’s hard to believe it is the last month for Science class. This month we will learn about wetlands habitats and discuss what makes up a habitat. We will learn about marine mammals and whales. We will also review some of the differences between mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, amphibians and any other classification we can think of. We will delve into the science of archeology with a focus on dinosaurs.
What's coming up
On Tuesday, May 17th we will be having an “out of school experience” at the wetlands of Juanita Bay Park. In case you aren’t familiar with this park, it is in Kirkland on 100th Ave./Market Street across from the Forbes Creek Fire Station. We will be meeting at the park entrance at 9:30. We will be walking through the park to see the flora and fauna that thrive in a wetland area, have a snack, then leave about 11:00. According to our new school policy, the parent is responsible to bring the child to the venue, accompany them, then take them home from there unless other arrangements have been made. For this field trip, I don’t mind having you drop off and pick up your child, however I will need a permission form, if you choose that option. If you or the form do not come with the child, they will not be able to attend.
Other important info
Our last day of class is Tuesday, May 25th. We would like you to join us the last 20 minutes of class to celebrate our year of exploring science together. We have truly enjoyed each of your children throughout this year. Their energy, interest, thoughtful comments and humor have been a blessing to us all.
